CLOCKWISE CLOTHING

Local streetwear with swagger
Attitude doesn't help in every situation: label execs might see green in an unknown musician's swagger, but no matter a matador's preening, bulls pretty much just see red. Hoping the streetwear world appreciates his strut: the guy behind Clockwise Clothing.
?Clockwise is a fresh collection of DC-made tees designed and peddled by a JMU-grad whose online hub proclaims him a "creative monster, fashion addict, and entrepreneur", and whose work encompasses "A Mindset. A Lifestyle. A Culture." -- all that aside though, he's a good person to turn to for A T-Shirt. Text-based action includes the hip-hopping area-shout "Run DMV", which "kickstarted the brand & for that reason will forever be a classic"; a logo'd joint with the above "A Mindset..." catchphrase; and one with glow-in-the-dark ink spelling "Business Never Sleeps" (and must be reminded of that even when there's no nightlight). Graphic t's include "Dope", with a cartoonish hand opening a Ziplock; "King of Pop", a wholly un-ironic MJ tribute; and "Fist", with DC's bars & stars superimposed on a raised fist, signifying that to tap its "soul, energy, and overlooked talent", the District must unite (and tell Daniel Snyder enough with the overpriced talent?).
Like any good street-preneur, Clockwise
also maintains a lively blog, with posts, pics, and vids on everything
from hot beats, to hot girls, to wild nunchuck-ing: one area where
overconfidence can definitely come back to slap you in the face.
FELICIA "JADE" SIMON
1. What's Your Name?
Felicia "Jade" Simon
2. Where are you from?
Bronx, New York
3. You write poetry.. What else do you do?
I organize events, and music showcases among whatever a client may need put together.
4. We heard about you doing your 1st event that was huge, can you tell us about it?
Well the event just started off as a conversation between me and a close friend of mines. Discussing how there is no need to compete but get a lot more work done as a group helps with progress. The event showcased a few dope artists out of NYC, some amazing clothing lines, live art work being painted and even some already painted artwork was showcased. It was pretty dope and every industry that relates to art was apart of it.
5. What is your goal in life?
I have so many goals, but the one that ties into everything is to build a brand where im capable of helping everyone get a extra foot in the
door whether it is with promotion through shows or my upcoming site or helping them and being hands on with their own projects.
6. What are some things you do in your spare time?
Even when im out at a event or party im networking, I'm giving advice, I'm working. So I guess my spare time is at home when im not by a phone or computer and that's when I hang out and relax with my son.
7. Who are some of your influences in writing and overall in life?
Wow.. When I think about it I really don't have any. I can say im INSPIRED by my generation, well the ones I know are working hard and succeeding. I think I'm my biggest influence. After you go through so much you begin to understand that no one can go through what you did, you end up being your are your own hero.
8. What are some of the things you feel hip hop is missing?
Want me to be honest? I think its missing a few things from every other genre of music. Lol. Hip-Hop artists aren't able to be artists anymore. They have to be what these no brain consumers want. Hip-Hop is missing what it used to be... a way for artists to express themselves rather than conform to what brainless people want.
9. Who are some of the people you are listening to in your iPod?
Ok im give u a quick list. Wordspit, Eric Sosa, Yung Juggz, Cocoa Sarai, YC The Cynic, J. Cole, Big Sean, Donnis, O.I.S.D., a few chicks from Disney Channel lol. I listen to everyone.
10. What made you start writing poetry?
I started when I was 7 years old. I was living with my aunt and not my parents. I was very confused and back then I didn't express myself
verbally a lot so I would write and draw. Once I started seeing that people were interested in what I had to say I continued doing poetry for
myself, for church, for school or anytime I felt it was needed.
11. What advice would you give to another person about doing the things you are doing?
For one.. You can't do what I do because this is what I was born to do. For two do what makes u happy not what makes you money. If you have natural talent and your happy with it the money will come. I can't teach someone to do what im doing because my brain, my creativity and passion will be way stronger. Just focus though, be on top of your game 24/7, never worry about the next person and no matter how hard shit gets...never give up.
12. What type of role do you feel you play in Hip-Hop? I don't think I play any major role. I am just the supporter and the believer that
things for Hip-Hop will get better. Im just another resident in the music world being a fan and showing it.
13. How can other people contact you to get information on various things your doing?
Everyone can contact me at:
Jade.BeyondTheBasement@gmail.com or
JadeTheBeatFreak@gmail.com
Facebook: Jade Simon or even twitter twitter.com/BTB_Jade
14. If you could describe yourself using 5 words what words would they be?
Honest, Passionate, Smart, Funny, and Aggressive
15. Any words for our readers?
Yup. Never let no one tell you what your worth. Never let anybody tell you your ideas are weak. Do what you want to do, just make sure the passion is there. If you are going to do the same thing as someone else just do it bigger and better. It sounds like cheesy, typical advice but its real.
